First of all I can’t believe I’m sharing some good news about a brand that I’m not particularly fond of. I respect what Starbucks does but have never wrapped my head around why people think carrying around overpriced coffee is a status symbol. Anyway, I’ll put my personal opinions aside for a moment to share some good news about the king of coffee.
It was announced yesterday, April 6th 2015, that Starbucks will now offer free college tuition to their employees. But Luke what if you live in an area, or I’m not close to a college, that isn’t covered? Well the tuition is for Arizona State University’s online program so you can log in wherever you are to get your bachelor’s degree.
What’s the catch?
Full time employees only right? Nope, and I have to say I was pretty surprised by that!
However, if you already have a 4 year degree or work in a licensed store like the ones inside of a grocery store then you’re not eligible for these tasty perks.
Employees aren’t required to continue working at Starbucks after graduation and have their tuition 100% reimbursed at the end of each semester. If I had read this information last week I would have sworn this was some kind of April Fool’s Day joke because these details seem almost too good to be true.
With confirmed reports from CNN, Forbes and countless other reputable news outlets this seems to be as legit as having your name spelled wrong on the side of your Starbucks cup.
I’m still not handing over my cash Starbucks but I will give you a warm nod while sipping on my tasty Bulletproof Coffee.
